On Board Our RV - Take A Quick Tour!
Since Ty and I had our brainwave idea to sell everything and buy a motorhome back in July, I’ve been documenting our entire journey with photos, videos, tips, checklists… the works.
Finally, I managed to carve out a bit of time to figure out the whole video editing and uploading thang… (in-between my Crackbook, I mean Facebook, addiction… ha ha :)). I’ve put a little tour of the interior of our motorhome together for you!
Take a peek at our new home:
I have to say, we shopped HARD for this baby! We must’ve looked at somewhere between 40-50 motorhomes.
We deliberated between styles, sizes, features, new vs. pre-owned, you name it. Finally, we hit the motherlode from an awesome dealer in San Diego - our new bud, Tom Walter at Executive Motor Company!
Several reasons motivated our criteria: (1) a coach with a shower that would accommodate Ty’s 6′5″ height, (2) a length we’d both be happy driving/manoeuvring (Ty wanted 22′, I won him over with 34′! whew!) (3) decent condition with low miles, and (4) within our budget, which started at $15k USD then upped to $25k USD!
Specs on our mobile palace include:
- 1996 “Residency” by Thor West. (Designed especially for full-timers).
- A mere 30,000 miles on the clock! (Yep, pre-owned by a sweet older couple who hardly drove it).
- 34′ Class A. (Like a coach with captain’s chairs vs. a 5th wheel, trailer, Class C or Class B - I’ll explain all that later!).
- Sleeps 6.
- 5 Awnings.
- Side-by-side fridge freezer.
- Queen walk around bed (most important for us gals who typically make the bed every day!) (Oh, and, yep, Ty’s feet do stick out the end, but he says he doesn’t mind… he hee).
- TONS of storage inside and out.
- Two full workstations - one each, perfect!
- Two skylights (one in the main living area and one over the shower).
- Walk-through bathroom - this is a rare feature in older coaches and makes the entire RV feel like an extremely comfortable condo or upscale hotel room! (Most RV bathrooms have the shower & vanity separate from the WC, which is typically housed in a tiny cubicle where us tall peeps bump our knees on the door… kinda like an airplane WC! LOL)
And the price we paid for this puppy? A mere $26.5k USD! Hardly believable, eh? So, for under $30k with tax & registration, we own our own home free and clear!
YEAH!! Frrrrrreeeeeeeedom!
More videos & pics coming soon to a screen near you.

December 20th, 2007 at 2:13 pmSo fun! Yay!
I’m jealous that you know how to put those scrolling titles after your video and the cool background music.
I do think you have one of the nicest setups I’ve seen.
January 11th, 2008 at 10:27 am@Lin - thank you!!
Hey, it’s fairly easy in Windows Movie Maker. Pre-installed on most new PCs! I’m a bit of a techno-babe, mind you. LOL
January 11th, 2008 at 1:09 pmWow!!! It’s awesome, Mari!!
Thanks so much for sending the link to me. My husband came upstairs just at the moment and we were both able to watch it! We’ll be reading a lot more on your site as we get closer to looking for our RV!!
Thanks, so much!!
Happy journey to you!
Lots of love,

Nice looking. Oprah had a couple on today who pulled their motorhome up to her offices and Oprah and Suze Orman toured it and talked about how they planned to live and see the country.
