Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now! We’re On The Move!
Rock and roll! Whoop and holler! Can you see me jumping up and down with excitement?
After exactly nine weeks of “staging” in San Diego, Ty and I finally made our mega maiden voyage in our motorhome yesterday. Bye bye Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve - we love ya, but it’s sure fab to move on! LOL
(We did take one side trip to the Elks Lodge in Oceanside for ten days in August, but that wasn’t really our scene. Sorry Elks peeps).
It took us the best part of the day to break camp, get all prepped for the road, make the journey (including a stop at Camping World in San Marcos - our new toy store!), and set up camp.
We traveled 153 miles from Santee to Desert Hot Springs. Ty drove our motorhome with our toad (tow car - Honda CR-V), while I drove my beloved yellow VW Beetle, “Marigold.” (We’re putting her in storage this week at our investment property in Twin Peaks, CA - boohoo, I’ll miss her).
Here we are now at Catalina RV Resort and Spa - a membership type place with close to 500 RV sites. It’s real empty just now (off season); the peace is glorious. Some RV buds gifted us a five-night/six-day stay for $25. Sweet.
When we arrived, the manager says, “Just pick any spot you like.”
However - 200 RVers are checking in this minute as I write this. It’s the Southern California Black Campers‘ annual rally. Oh my!! I just went out and met Alex and Karen Roberts - lovely folks. They sure take the club seriously!
I think the next few days will be quite a blast, despite the intense daytime heat. (It had gotten a bit chilly at Santee!)
We’re parked here through Saturday… though I’m “home alone“! Oooooo! (Ty drove up to our property in the mountains this morning to handle some remodeling stuff for a few days). Hmmm, what mischief can I get up to???

On another note - pun intended - a friend recently suggested a theme song for our travels: On The Road Again. Nah. Didn’t resonate with me.
Another bud suggested Hit The Road Jack. Yikes, probably not!
Then, I heard it on the radio - Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now, We’re On The Move! Yeah!! That’s it. I love this song. Great lyrics, very fitting! Crank your speakers and enjoy:
Got any other road trip, mobile lifestyle, freedom, adventure, RVing type songs to suggest??!! What would you say is YOUR theme song?

It’s really great to be able to share your experience via the YouTube video. I still find it amazing that I can sit here in Australia and see what you are doing over there! The downside …I’m getting itchy feet. I am even more motivated to get my “transition to retirement” pension so I can hit the road.

Yes, technology is amazing!
I’m guessing you’ve read Tim Ferriss’ ‘Four Hour Workweek’? He talks of taking mini-retirements and creating ‘muses’ as sources of income.
His whole philosophy is design and automate your career/income such that you get to experience your dreams now. (I wish I could say I’ve mastered the email/internet ‘addiction’…
not yet… working on it. LOL).
