Ty and Mari Smith - New Year 2008Is your 2008 off to a flying start? Sure hope so!

[Photo: Ty and I ring in the New Year at our buddy, Dan Hare's party. Yay for rosé champagne. Click on photos for larger image.]

I confess, I’m having a bit of a lull myself… after two weeks of non-stop social functions, my body is forcing me to slow down with a stinking cold. Bah. I’m not a good sick person (eh, who is?!). What I mean is, it’s really difficult for me to slow down, do nothing, and get good rest.

I started a vision board (dream board, collage) on New Year’s Eve with my friends, DC Cordova and Carol Dysart. If you’ve seen The Secret, you may remember the part where John Assaraf shares the his story of the vision board with a picture of his ideal home… which he later manifested. (I was fortunate to attend a party at John’s home a few years back. It’s stunning!)

So, I want to set aside time to complete my collage. DC tells me the absolute best time to do any goal-setting and postulating is from 4:00pm Pacific time (midnight GMT) on December 31st through January 11th.

I’ve got mindmaps, intentions, project drafts, to-do lists, and more. My desk is cluttered with scraps of paper, business cards, sticky notes. There are so many different directions I could go in in 2008. But… I need to prioritize! And focus! I’ll keep you posted. :) Okay, that’s all on the business front.

The good part is Ty and I have the next ten months or so mapped out for our RV travels

Around January 25th, we’ll leave San Diego and start heading east across the sunbelt. I still want to see the Grand Canyon. We have friends in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We’ll miss Mardi Gras in New Orleans (bummer!), but our target is to get to Perry, Georgia for The Rally by mid-March.

Then, we’ll make our way up the east coast, likely into Canada. And back west across the northern States before heading all the way up to Alaska by early summer! We plan to explore Alaska all summer.

Along our travels, we’ll be meeting up with friends and family. You can track our travels on Our Map page. And, if you’re close to our route, send me a note (post a comment here) and I’ll add you to our travel map!!

What are your big plans for 2008?

    Hi Mari & Ty!

After reviewing your travel map, I see that you have family that lives in Burnstown, ON. I am literally 12 minutes from Burnstown so I must be added to your travel map! If you come to this area, you will be literally driving through the town I live in (Renfrew).

Let me know when you plan on coming through! I’d love to do dinner or lunch with you both.

    Cheers!
    Erin

Erin - wowee!! That is just the coolest thing. Small world, eh?

I added you to our travel map. Our plans are a tad on the ambitious side to cover the circumference of the USA and be in Alaska by early summer!! We may have to make adjustments and head north from the middle of the US. We’ll certainly keep you posted and if not this year, maybe next, for a visit!! :)
