RV 800 Miles in Two Days - Can We Do It?
One of the interesting challenges of our mobile lifestyle experiment, is planning ahead that allows us enough time to enjoy the scenery and visit new destinations, and for me to run my consulting and training business. That means many hours in front of the computer and on the phone. Then, on top of the usual activities, Ty and I are attending several seminars as I blogged about here.
We left Aguanga, CA last Sunday, April 20 and made our way west to travel the glorious Pacific Coast Highway. See Our Map for our route and places we visited. My absolute favorite was Hearst Castle! Fab pics and vids to follow.
Because we stayed over an extra night at two different RV parks due to my work schedule, we’re now attempting to get from Sherman Island, CA to Bothell, WA in two days flat. That’s 800 miles. Here’s my LIVE blog of our trip!
See, since last fall, I’ve been striving to schedule 2.5 days of actual work so Ty and I remain parked up during that time and travel the rest of the time as we wish. We’ve learned it takes significant time to set up, break down, route-plan, find RV Parks, navigate… the works. So, it’s challenging for me to be productive during travel days, though I can do some work on my computer while Ty drives (as I am now!)
Stay tuned via the Live Blog… do you think we can do 800 miles in two days? (Averaging 55mph).

A little coffee and you’re all set!
We went looking at RVs today — very exciting! We haven’t found what we want yet, but it’s still fun. I can’t wait until we find THE ONE… Something that accommodates the kids and has a nice area where I can set up my mobile office.
For now, I’m living vicariously through you two! =)
April 26th, 2008 at 4:38 pmMari - Nice RV park just north of Eugene - right off I5 - you can see it from the freeway - must be a bit noisy cause it is so close to the freeway. Couple other ones I recommend - The one at the Aurora Exit - sits off to the east behind some trees - can’t think of the name of it.
If you can make it to Wilsonville - a very nice one at the N Wilsonville Exit - Pheasant Ridge - Costco with gas right across the street.
You’ll pass within two minutes of our house at the Canby exit going north - WAVE!!! I’d have you stay here, but a community with RV restrictions in front of houses.
Call if you have a minute - 503 694 5502

April 26th, 2008 at 5:38 pm@Michael Wooooot!!! That is awesome news my friend that you went looking at RV’s today. Isn’t it SO exciting. And that’s totally how the manifestation process works, as I’m sure you know. You now have the physical vibration of RVs locked in your mind! I’m delighted to hear you’re thinking of going totally mobile too with an office.
Hey, maybe we’re starting a whole movement here, eh? Btw, did you see some peeps talking about homeschooling on Twitter recently?
@Carol - wowee, we’re passing your doorstep?? Amazing. Thx heaps for the park ideas… as you can appreciate, life on the road is very fluid… as of right now, hubby and I are talking of keeping on trucking up the I-5 without stopping now just for kicks. LOL. I’ll keep you posted. Hey, thx a mil for the awesome book, btw - Live Your Road Trip Dream. I meant to send ya a thank you note.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:24 pmSounds like you are almost there…good on you!!
Reminds me of a long haul we did in the fall in our RV from Vienna, Austria to Verona, Italy in a day! It was cold so we were motivated…lol…our kiddo watched Zefferelli’s Romeo & Juliette on the way, so was psyched to see their homes when we got there.
Love the pics of Hearst Castle…great spot eh? I love that whole area.
You are giving me itchy feet!
We are off to see the horses & flamenco dancers in Jerez,Spain this weekend, but I am ready for our long haul that we will start in about 2 weeks.
See ya on twitter!
Keep driving and rest soon!
